Explain with more examples..please clear it.....!!!!!

DIRECTIONS: In the given questions a part of the sentence is in bold. Below are given alternatives to the bold part at (A), (B), (C) and (D) which may improve the sentence. Choose the correct alternative.

The purchase made by him brought with him a number of prizes.

Options:
A)

brings towards him

B)

brought him

C)

brought up to him

D)

no improvement

Solution:

Ans: (b)

Option (B) is correct. Many verbs are followed by two objects- a direct object and an indirect object. Common verbs that can take two objects are: give, take, lent, buy, bring, fetch, get etc. 

Two pattern are possible:

* Subject + verb + indirect object + direct object.

* Subject + verb + direct object + preposition + indirect object.
