Question:
DIRECTIONS: The total annual Co2 emissions from various sectors are 5 mmt. In the pie chart given below, the percentage distribution to Co2 emission from various sectors are indicated.

In the next year, if emission from commercial sector decreases by 20% of its current emission, while other sectors continue to emit same amount of Co2  as earlier , then what will be the new percentage contribution of thermal power sector(approx) ?
Options:
A) 31.9%
B) 39.8%
C) 42.7%
D) 36.5%
Solution:

Present commercial emits = 20% = 1 mmt

Next year 20 % decrease = 20 % of 1 mmt = 0.2 mmt

&o total emission next year=5-0.2=4.8 mmt

And share of thermal = 35 % of 4.8 = 36.5 %
