If sinθ – cosθ = $\frac{7}{13}$ and 0^O < θ < 90^O, then the value of sinθ + cosθ is:

Options:

$\frac{17}{13}$

$\frac{13}{17}$

$\frac{1}{13}$

$\frac{1}{17}$

Solution:

Ans: (a)

If Sinθ – cosθ=x, then Sinθ + cosθ = $\sqrt{2 - x^{2}}$

Now,

Sinθ – cosθ = $\frac{7}{13}$ (given)

$∴$ Sinθ + cosθ = $\sqrt{2 - {(\frac{7}{13})}^{2}} = \sqrt{2 - (\frac{49}{169})}$

= $\sqrt{\frac{289}{169}}$ $= \frac{17}{13}$
