Calculation showing different answer. (Question: 200924.0 )

Option (a) is coming with my calculation.

rate quantity

case 1: x 54/x

case 2: 4/5 x 54/(4/5 of x) which is 135/2x


after making equation 135/2x - 54/x=10

x= 27/20 .
now new price will be x= 27/20 * (4/5)*12= 12.96 per dozen

Question:

A reduction of 20% in the price of an apple enables a man to buy 10 apples more for Rs. 54. The new price of apples per dozen is —

Options:
A) Rs. 4.32
B) Rs.12.96
C) Rs.10.80
D) Rs.14.40
Solution:
Ans: (b) Reduced price of apples per dozen 


= Rs. 12.96


Alternate Sol:


20% of 54 is 10apples price after discount

so.1apple price after discount=10.8/10=1.08.

so, 12 apples will cost 12*1.08 = Rs.12.96
