pass is redundant...and I did is correct

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Some part of the sentences have errors and some are correct. Find out which part of a sentence has an error.
I thought I'd pass the exam, and I did pass. 
Options:
A) I did pass
B) No error
C) the exam, and I
D) I thought I'd pass 
Solution:
Ans:(b) No error. The sentence is correct. 'Did' in the sentence has been used for emphasis.
