decrease bowling average means it should become 12.8 not 12.0

Question:
A man whose bowling average is 12.4, takes 5 wickets for 26 runs and there by decreases his average by 0.4. The number of wickets taken by him before his last match is?
Options:
A) 64
B) 72
C) 80
D) 85
Solution:
Ans: (d) Let He has taken x wickets before the match.

And runs given with the average 12.4, So total run given was,

= 12.4x
Runs given including this match,

12.4x+26 with the average of 12.

Now,
(12.4x+26)/(x+5) = 12
12.4x+ 26 = 12x + 60
0.4x= 34
x = 85 wickets

see... in the last match he has taken 5 wickets giving only 26 runs... so, avg will be 26/5=5.2(which lesser than the previous avg.12.4) so overall ratio (runs/wickets) or bowling avg will be decreased not increased..

85*12.0=1020 & (80*12.4)+26=1018; Then How?
