The question-setters must be careful. Here the correct answer is 11/15. But it is not given in the options. Another option of 11/5 is marked as correct. Such mistakes are not acceptable.

Question:

 There are two pumps to fill a tank with water. First pump can fill the empty tank in 12 hours and second can fill in 20 hours. But another pumps that can empty tank in 30 hours. All pumps are opened alternately. The part of the tank that will be filled up in 20 hour.

Solution:

Total work =  60unit   

Water filled in three hrs. =  (5+3-2)=6unit   

Water filled in 18 hrs. = 6×6=36unit   

Water filled in 20 hrs. =  36+5+3=44unit   

Part of tank is filled =  4460=1115
