Question:

Two men or four women or six boys can do a piece of work in 176 days then one man, one woman and one boy will do it in-

Options:
A)

96 days

B)

192 days

C)

98 days

D)

72 days

Solution:

Ans: (a) 

1/X + 1/Y = 1/D

Now we have the basics, let's solve:
2/M=4/W=6/B = 1/176

So, M = 176 x 2
W = 176 x 4
B = 176 x 6

Put this in the equation:
\(\frac{1}{M} +\frac {1}{W}+\frac{1}{B}=\frac{1}{D}\)
\(\frac{1}{2\times176} +\frac {1}{{4\times176}}=\frac{1}{{6\times176}}\)
= \(\frac{1}{176}\big(\frac{1}{2} +\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{6}\big)\)
= \(\frac{1}{176}\times\frac{11}{12}\)
= 1/192
=1/D

D=192
