They have asked for outer surface area and not whole surface area. In any case answer is not correct.

Question:

cylindrical tube open at both ends is made of metal. The internal diameter of the tube is 6 cm and length of the tube is 10 cm. If the thickness of the metal used is 1 cm, then the outer curved surface area of the tube is –

Options:
A)

140π sq cm

B)

146.5 π sq cm

C)

80 π sq cm

D)

None of these

Solution:

Ans: (C)

Internal radius of cylindrical tube

= 6/2 = 3 cm

External radius of the cylindrical tube

= (3+1)

= 4

Outer curved surface area of tube

= 2 π R × L

= 2 × π × 4 × 10

= 80 π sq.cm
