We can use allegation method:

* 2d (upstream)-->7 hrs
d(upstream)--->7/2 hrs
* d(upstream+downstream)-->5hrs
* We don't know 'd' (downstream alone), let us say x
Now use allegation rule
UP.......Down
7/2......x
.......5.........
(5-x)........(7/4)

7/4 should be multiplied by 2 because we are asked to find out time for 2d (down) hence 7/2 hrs

Question:

A person can row a boat d km upstream and the same distance downstream in 5 hours 15 minutes. Also, he can row the boat 2d km upstream in 7 hours. How long will it take to row the same distance 2d km downstream?

Options:
A)

712

B)

C)

D)
