Hunting is a sport

Whales present picture of massive and power that you would serve imagine they could be threatened by something as puny as a human. But once a year the International Whaling Commission (IWC) meets to decide whether they can hunted again. Since the commercial whaling moratorium came into effect in 1986, what started out looking like at least a long pause is whaling soon became a period of permanent tension between those who believe that humans have an inherent right to kill whales and those believe that whales have an inherent right to live.

The passage suggests that some people resort to whaling

there is no indication of "Hunting being a sport" in the passage
The commercial whaling moratorium is issues in 1986, which prohibits people to hunt whales for the commercial purpose,
