past continuous tense will be converted into past perfect cont. tense

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following questions, a sentence has been given in direct/indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one that best expresses the same sentence in indirect/direct speech. 

Raj said, “I was having my dinner when the peon called upon me”.

Options:
A)

Raj said that he had been having his dinner when the peon called upon him.

B)

Raj said that he was having his dinner when the peon called upon him.

Raj told that he had been having my dinner when the peon called upon me.

D)

Raj said that he has been having his dinner when the peon called upon him.

Solution:

Ans:(b) Raj said that he was having his dinner when the peon called upon him.

nope, not in this case of "time clause"....

b is correct answer bcoz time clause is there ,so tense will not change
