solution?

Question:
A sells an item at 20% profit to B. B sells it to C at 10% profit. C sells it to D at a profit of \(\unicode{x20B9} \)16 . Difference between the cost price of D and cost price of A was \(\unicode{x20B9} \)500. How much did B pay to A for the item?
Options:
A) 1240
B) 1815
C) 1440
D)

1450

Solution:

Let the cost price for A is 100x.

Therefore cost price for B is 120x

and cost price for C is 132x

and now cost price for D is 132x+16

therefore according to question;

132x+16-100x=500

32x=484

or 120x=120(484/32)=1815

Dear student,
Given answer is correct,
Let the CP of A is x
then CP of B is (x * 1.20) = 1.20x
and CP of C is ( x * 1.20 * 1.10) = 1.32x
Now CP of D is ( x * 1.20 * 1.10 + 16) = 1.32x + 16
According to Question
(1.32x + 16) - x = 500
x = 484/32
B pay to A is 120x
120 * 484/32
1815
