kahne ko to khud ko knowledge expert kahte ho....to ye jo niche itna lamba
chaura bhasan diye ho ki 45 aur 72 ka LCM le lo,,,uske baad equations ko solve karo...aur ye sab keep learning with us...aapko nhi lagta ki es bhasan se jyada jaruri ye tha ki detail me en equations ko solve kar k bta dete...aap ye kyu imagine kar lete ho ki test series kharidne wale sare bache IITIAN hai...

Question:

A boat takes total 9 hour when going 68 km downstream and 45 km upstream. That boat takes 2 hours more when going 51 km downstream and 72 km upstream. What is the speed of boat in still water?

Options:
A) 4
B) 13
C) 12
D) 6
Solution:
Ans: (b) Let the speed of boat be x km/hr. and speed of stream be y km/hr.

A.T.Q.,

\(\cfrac{68}{x+y}+\cfrac{45}{x-y}=9\).....(i)

\(\cfrac{51}{x+y}+\cfrac{72}{x-y}=11\)...(ii)

On solving equ. (i) & (ii), we get :

x = 13 km/hr. & y = 4 km/hr.

I think its our headache now to solve it,it will be better if we use options like 13 and 4 make a pair and satisfy both equation.It just a matter of luck if we get otherwise leave the question and say yet to be approved,
