If y = 98, then the value of [y (y² + 6y + 12) - 19] is
Options:
A) 999973

Solution:

Ans: (a) Let y = x – 2; where x = 100, substituting (x - 2) in place of y the required expression transforms as 

[(x – 2) ((x – 2)² + 6(x - 2) + 12) – 19]

= [(x - 2)³ + 6(x - 2)² + 12(x - 2) – 19]  ((a-b)³=a³ - b³ + 3ab (a-b))

= x³ - 27 

Required is the value of x³ - 27 when x = 100

= 999973

(a - b)^3 = a^3 - b^3 + 3ab(a-b),
then we will get x^3 -27 =100 so,
1000000-27 = 99973
Given answer is correct.
