If sinθ + sin2θ = 1, then the value of cos12θ + 3 cos10θ + 3 cos8θ + cos6θ – 1 is:

A) 0

Solution:
Ans: (a)

sin\(\theta\) + sin2\(\theta\) = 1 \(\Rightarrow\) sin\(\theta\) = cos2\(\theta\)

Given : cos12\(\theta\) + 3 cos10\(\theta\) + 3 cos8\(\theta\) + cos6\(\theta\)–1

= (cos4\(\theta\) + cos2\(\theta\))3 – 1 = (sin2\(\theta\) + cos2\(\theta\))3 – 1 = 1 – 1 = 0
