In the solution, Alien from mars is shown adjacent to the Uranus not second to the left

Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Eight aliens – A through H – sit around a circular table facing the centre, not necessarily in the same order. Each of them is from a different planet among Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The alien which is from ‘Mercury’ sits third to the right of G. Only two aliens sit between G and A. A is from ‘Uranus’ and sits second to the left of the alien which is from ‘Neptune’. B and C are opposite each other and neither of them is adjacent to A. C is not from ‘Mercury’. F is a neighbour of B and E. The alien from ‘Saturn’ is opposite D, which is third to the left of the alien from ‘Jupiter’. The alien from ‘Mars’ is second to the left of the alien from ‘Earth’, which is not G.

Which alien is sitting second to the right of E?

Options:
A) The alien from ‘Mars’
B) B
C) C
D) The alien from ‘Neptune’
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (b) It is given that, the alien which is from ‘Mercury’ sits third to the right of G . Only two aliens sit between G and A.

A is from ‘Uranus’ and sits second to the left of the alien which is from ‘Neptune’ So we can say that A is third to the left of G and second to the right of the alien which is from ‘Mercury’. As B and C are opposite each other and neither of them is adjacent to A and C is not from ‘Mercury’ we can say that C is from ‘Neptune’ and B is from ‘Mercury’. It is given that, F is a neighbor of B and E, hence F sits to the immediate left of B and E sits opposite A. It is also given that, the alien from ‘Saturn’ is opposite D, which is third to the left of the alien from ‘Jupiter’. So, the only possible case to place D is to the immediate right of A. hence, E is from ‘Jupiter’ and F is from ‘Saturn’. As the alien from ‘Mars’ is second to the left of the alien from ‘Uranus’, which is not G, the only possible arrangement is as shown below.

B is sitting second to the right of E.
