it can be either 69 or 96 so we it is not sufficient to get the exact number

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In each of the following questions, a question is followed by information given in two statements. You have to study the question along with the statements and decide, the information given in which of the statements (s) is necessary to answer the question?

What is the two-digit number?

I. Sum of digits of the number is 15.

II. Difference between the digits is 3.

Options:
A) If the question can be answered by using statement I alone but not by using statement II alone
B) If the question can be answered by using statement II alone but not by using statement I alone
C) If the question can be answered by using either of the statements alone
D) If the question can be answered by using both the statements together but not by either of the statements alone
E) If the question cannot be answered even by using both the statements together
Solution:
Both the statements are necessary to find the required two-digit number as from (I), we get x + y = 15 and from (II) we get x - y = 3. On solving these two, we get x = 9 and y = 6 so the required number is either 96 or 69.
