DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.


Each one of eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H – lives on a different floor of which the ground floor is numbered 1 and the floor above the ground floor is numbered 2 and so on and each one is of different height but not necessarily in the same order. 

Only three persons live between D and F but neither of them lives on the even-numbered floor. The number of persons taller than G is equal to the number of persons shorter than B.

 

Neither B nor G is either the third tallest or the shortest person. They live according to the ascending order of their heights which means the shortest person lives on the floor numbered 1 and the second shortest person lives on the floor numbered 2 and so on. H is taller than E and lives three floors below B. A is shorter than B but does not live adjacent to D.

Ans: (b) It is given that, the persons live according to the ascending order of their heights which means the shortest person lives on the floor numbered 1 and the second shortest person lives on the floor numbered 2 and so on. Only three persons live between D and F but neither of them lives on the even-numbered floor. Then number of persons taller than G is equal to the number of persons shorter than B. Hence if D and F live on floors numbered 3 and 7 then B and G live on floors numbered 4 and 5 in any order If D and F have on floors numbered 5 and 1 then B and G live on floors numbered 2 and 7 in any order. H is taller than E and lives three floors below B. As H is taller than E. H lives above E. But A lives below B but not adjacent to D hence the final living arrangement is as follows,
