Here question has been asked what is total no. of oranges he buy which will be 2X as he buys x for 14 and x for 12

Question:
A fruit vendor, buys a certain number of bananas of Rs. 14 a dozen and equal number at Rs. 12 a dozen. He sells the bananas at Rs. 15 a dozen and makes a profit of Rs. 160. How many bananas does he buy?
Options:
A) 20 dozen.
B) 40 dozen.
C) 60 dozen.
D) 80 dozen.
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (d)

Let he bought x dozen bananas at Rs. 14/dozen and x dozen bananas at Rs. 12/dozen

\(\therefore\) C.P. = 14x + 12x = 26x

He sells the bananas at Rs. 15/dozens.

\(\therefore\) S.P. = 15 (2x) = 30x

Now Profit = S.P. - C.P.

\(\Rightarrow\) 160 = 30x - 26x

\(\Rightarrow\) \(\cfrac{160}{4}=x\).

\(\Rightarrow\) x = 40

\(\Rightarrow\) 2x = 80

\(\therefore\) He bought 80 dozen bananas.
