wrong answer (Question:674064.1)

4 root 3 is greater than 3 root 5..answer given is wrong

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and choose the correct option.

I.    x2- 6 3   x  +24 = 0

II.    y2 - 7 5   y + 60 = 0

Options:
A)

if x > y

B)

if  x ≥ y 

C)

if x < y

D)

if x ≤ y

E)

if x = y or the relationship cannot be established.

Solution:

Ans: (c) I.    x2- 6 3   x  +24 = 0

⇒ x2- 4 3   x  -  23   x +24 = 0

⇒ x(x- 4 3   )  -  23   (x-4 3   )  = 0

⇒ (x-  23   ) (x-4 3   )  = 0

⇒ x=  23    , 4 3   )   

II.    y2 - 7 5   y + 60 = 0 

⇒ y2 - 4 5   y - 3 5   y + 60 = 0

⇒ y(y - 4 5)    - 3 5   (y - 4 5)     = 0

⇒ (y - 4 5)    (y- 3 5)     = 0

⇒ y = 4 5   , 3 5    

⇒ So, relation can't be determined.
