The per km fare for the next 40kms after first 30kms in Rs.2.5. That ways the fare break up will be 30+100+45. So the answer will be B, 30.

Question:
The fare for a bus journey is Rs.c for the first 30 km of journey, Rs.2.50 per km for the next 40 km and Rs.1.50 per km thereafter. A customer travelled a distance of 100 km and paid an amount of Rs.175. Find the value of c.
Options:
A) 25
B) 30
C) 35
D) 40
E) None of these   
Solution:

According to question;

c + 40 x 2.5 + 1.5 x 30= 175

c =175 - 145=30

c = 30
