Question:

The ratio of the number of men to that of boys in a group becomes 12 : 7 when 10 boys leave. But afterwards, when 18 men also leave, the ratio becomes 6 : 5, then what was originally the number of men in the group.

Ans: (c)

Let the number of men and boys be x and y respectively.

Now, according to question,

  

From these two equations, we get- 

x = 60 and y = 45

Hence, originally the number of man in the group was 60.
