the correct answer is option D i.e statement A and not option A

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Given below are six sentences labelled (A), (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F). Rearrange the sentences in a logical order to form a correct paragraph and answer the questions that follow.

(A) One of the defining phenomena of our age is migration.

(B) At least that is the theory.

(C) In reality, there is an elite of international professionals who do live comparable and seamlessly connected lives, whether they be in New York City, New Delhi or Johanesburg or Tokyo.

(D) But among the world’s poor, things do not go as smoothly.

(E) As the world shrinks and economies integrate, national boundaries become less important.

(F) “Globalisation might be creating rich countries with poor people”, an economist noted.

Which is the FIRST sentence of the paragraph?
Options:
A) D
B) E
C) B
D) A
E) C
Solution:
Ans: (d) The opening sentence of the para is (A) because it introduces the topic - migration Statement (E) follows (A) as it gives probable causes. The pronoun ‘that’ in B refers to the world shrinking and economies integrating. So the sequence is AEB statements. (C) and (D) go together as they draw a contract between the elite and the poor. The reference to ‘in reality’ in (C) gives the clue: Hence CD can only follow AEB. Statement (F) concludes by stating a fact that is an apparent fallout of globalisation that the para discusses.
