correct option should be "E".. as Rs. 24 is overall loss .... but in option "B" it is Rs. 24 profit that is wrong option.

Question:

Seema purchased an item for 9,600 and sold it for a loss of 5 percent. From that money she purchased another item and sold it for a gain of 5 percent. What is her overall gain/loss?

Options:
A) Loss of Rs 36
B) Loss of Rs 24
C) Loss of Rs 54
D) Profit of Rs 36
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (b)

S P=\(\cfrac{9600\times95}{100}\)= Rs 9,120

Second S. P.= \(\cfrac{9120\times105}{100}\)

= Rs 9,576

Loss = 9600 — 9576 = Rs 24.
