wrong answer (Question: 123992.0 )

why the second part, divided by 2 and (0.5)(0.2) not considered?

Question:

DIRECTIONS: What should come in place of the question mark (?) in the following question?


(0.5)2 + (0.2)2 + 2 × (0.5) (0.2) = ?

Options:
A) 0.94 
B) 0.39 
C) 0.49
D) 0.69 
E) 0.55
Solution:

Ans:(c) ?  = (0.5)2 + (0.2)2 + 2 × (0.5) (0.2)

= (0.5 + 0.2)2 = (0.7)2 = 0.49

Take a=0.5 and b=0.2

Apply, (a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

0.49 is the correct answer.
