because we have all the three relations between x and y viz. x=y, x>y and x<y....which is not possible...Thats why....

See; you must learn first how to correlate...

we have

x=4 and 6 and y= 4 and 5

4=4 means x=y _____(1)

4<5 means x<y _______(2)

6>4 means x>y ________(3)

6>5 means x>y ______(4)

Now can you combine these all equations together???.......No because all the three signs appears here....

Hence, no relationship can be established...:)

but why b option is wrong

why???.............Given answer is correct..

I. x2 - 10x + 24 = 0
⇒ x2 – 6x – 4x + 24 = 0
⇒ x (x – 6) - 4 (x – 6) = 0
⇒ (x - 4) (x - 6) = 0
∴ x = 4 or 6
II. y2 – 9y + 20 = 0
⇒ y2 – 5y – 4y + 20 = 0
⇒ y(y – 5) - 4(y – 5) = 0
⇒ (y – 4) (y – 5) = 0
∴ y = 4 or 5
∴ no relation exist

The correct ans is 'B'
x=4 & y=4 >> X=Y
x=4 & y=5 >> X> X>Y
x=6 & y=5 >> X>Y

Question:
Directions : In the following questions two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give Answer If

I. x2 - 10x + 24 = 0

II. y2 – 9y + 20 = 0

Options:
A) x > y
B) x ≥ y
C) x < y
D) x ≤ y
E) x = y or the relationship cannot be established
Solution:

I. x2 - 10x + 24 = 0

⇒ x2 – 6x – 4x + 24 = 0

⇒ x (x – 6) - 4 (x – 6) = 0

⇒ (x - 4) (x - 6) = 0

∴ x = 4 or 6

II. y2 – 9y + 20 = 0

⇒ y2 – 5y – 4y + 20 = 0

⇒ y(y – 5) - 4(y – 5) = 0

⇒ (y – 4) (y – 5) = 0

∴ y = 4 or 5

∴ no relation exist
