there are six...

Question:

DIRECTIONS : These questions are based on the data given below.

There are two circular tables in a room. Six Russians — Akhil, Bhupendra, Chetan, Devendra, Eeshan and Faheem — are sitting at one table and six Frenchmen - Manish, Nayan, Aman, Prashant, Keshav and Rahul are sitting at the other table. Akhil and Devendra are sitting opposite to each other. Bhupendra and Eeshan are sitting opposite each other. Chetan sits to the right of Devendra. Bhupendra is the only person who can translate Russian to French; Chetan is the only person who can translates French to Russian, and none of them does the vice- versa unless so stated. Eeshan and Faheem sit adjacent to each other. Also, Manish sits opposite Prashant; Keshav sits to the right of Rahul and Rahul sits opposite Aman. Nayan and Prashant sit adjacent to Aman. On the table, any person can talk to another person, only as stated below. The only conversations that took place are as given below:

Akhil  spoke to Bhupendra; Bhupendra to Rahul; Rahul to Chetan; Rahul to Keshav; Keshav to Prashant; Prashant to Aman; Aman to Nayan; Nayan to Manish; Chetan to Devendra; Devendra to Eeshan; Manish to Rahul; and Eeshan to Faheem.

Which of the following statements are true ?

(A) There are 5 persons between Eeshan and Aman.

(B) Akhil sits to the left of Chetan translating French to Russian.

(C) Maximum number of persons involved in sending will vary depending upon the old and new arrangement.

Options:
A) A and B both
B) Only A
C) Only C
D) C and B both
E)

None of these

Solution:

Ans: (b)

Let us take down the data as below:

(i) Six Russians — Akhil, Bhupendra, Chetan, Devendra, Eeshan and Faheem and six frenchmen — Manish, Nayan, Aman, Prashant, Keshav and Rahul.

(iv) Bhupendra = Russian to French

Chetan = French to Russian

(v) Eeshan and Faheem sit adjacent to each other.

(ix) (Nayan & Prashant) sit adjacent to Aman.

First of all lets make the seating arrangement for the above data:

(a) Russian Table:

(b) French table:

Also it is given that:

(1) To the right of F is Eeshan, and to the left of Nayan is Aman. The route will be as shown.

(Eeshan)→Devendra→Chetan→Rahul→Manish→Nayan→ (Aman)

As there are 5 persons between E & O involved in passing the message hence this statement is true.

(2) Bhupendra sits to the right of Chetan, who now translates French to Russian. Hence, this statement is false

(3) The maximum number of persons involved in message sending will remain the same in the new as well as the old arrangement.Hence, this statement is false.
