why

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Read each sentence to find out whether there is any grammatical error in it. The error, if any, will be in one part of the sentence. Mark the part with the error as your answer. If there is no error, mark 'No error' as your answer. (Ignore the errors of punctuation, if any)

It is expected in the cricket circles of the country /  that after the election / of the new President of  BCCI, Indian cricket / will be free now from all kinds of conflict of interests. No error

Options:
A)

It is expected in the cricket circles of the country

B)

that after the election

C)

of the new President of BCCI, Indian cricket

D)

will be free now from all kinds of conflict of interests.

E)

No error

Solution:

Ans: (d)

An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb. In the sentence, ‘now’ is an adverb which has been used to modify the adjective ‘free’ and therefore, the correct usage of the words would have been ‘will now be free’ instead of ‘will be free now’ as used in the sentence. That makes option (4) the right choice. Choice (4)
