Where is the discussion?

Question:
At the end of year 2008, Shepard bought nine dozen goats. Henceforth, every year he added p% of the goats at the beginning of the year and sold q% of the goats at the end of the year where p > 0 and q > 0. If Shepard had nine dozen goats at the end of year 2012, after making the sales for that year, which of the following is true?
Options:
A) p = q
B) p < q
C) p > q
D) p = \(\cfrac{q}{2}\)
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (c) p > q

At the end of years 2008,

No. of goats = 9 dozen

and at the end of year 2012 also no. of goats = 9 dozen

Since there is  no change in the no. of goats

80 obviously P > q.

if P < q or P = q, then no. of goats will decrease every year.

(you an assume p = any value and

                         q = any value and

                         check the asnwer)

for eg. if P =  10% and q = 10%

then at the end of year 2009,

change in goats =

10 - 10 - \(\cfrac{10 × 10}{100}\)  %

= - 1%
