if SI=PTR/100
then P=340-x right?!

Question:
A person lent a certain sum of money at 4% simple interest; and in 8 years the interest amounted to Rs.340 less than the sum lent. Find the sum lent.
Options:
A) Rs.300
B) Rs.500
C) Rs.700
D) Can’t be determined
E) None of these
Solution:

Let P=x

then interest = x-340

Now, apply formula,

SI = PRT/100

x-340 = 32x/100

so, x=500

Hence, Required sum = Rs.500

yes , you are doing right...

Let P=x

then interest = x-340

Now, apply formula,

SI = PRT/100

x-340 = 32x/100

so, x=500

Hence, Required sum = Rs.500
