Question:
DIRECTIONS: Seven flags A, B, C, D, E, F and G are put in such a way that the distance between the next two decreases by 1 m. The distance between the first two flags, A and B, is 10 m. Now answer the following questions.

If one flag is removed and the remaining are placed on equal distances among the two corner flags, then each set of two flags would be ________ meter apart.

A) 8\(\cfrac{1}{2}\)
B) 7\(\cfrac{1}{2}\)

Solution:
Ans: (c) After removing the flag the remaining flags are 6, then distance between two flags would be 

45 รท 5 = 9 m.

No, we have 6 flags, but only 5 gaps, so total distance will be divided by number of gaps..not by number of flags.

so, 45/5=9 is correct answer.
