Question:

DIRECTIONS: Read the following graph carefully to answer the questions based on it.

Profit % by company xyz Ltd. during 2000-2005

\(\%Profit =\cfrac{Income-Expenditure}{Expenditure}\)       \(× 100\%\)

If  income in the year 2001 and expenditure in the year 2003 are equal then what will be the ratio of incomes in year 2001 and year  2003

Options:
A) 16: 31
B) 18 : 13
C) 20 :31
D) 10 : 31
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans:(a) Let, income in 2001 = \(\unicode{x20B9} \)x lakh
and income in 2003 = \(\unicode{x20B9} \)y lakh
∴Expenditure in 2003 = \(\unicode{x20B9} \)x lakh
∵ Profit in 2003 = 55%
\(∴ \cfrac{55}{100}=\cfrac{y-x}{x}⇒\frac{x}{y}=\cfrac{20}{31}\)
