Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Ten aircraft are parked in an airport apron and each of them belongs to a different aviation company–Air India, Indigo, Aviation India, Spice Jet, Jet Airways, Air Sahara, King fisher Airlines, Go Air Airlines, Paramount Airways and Air Charters India, in two different rows, five in each row, but not necessarily in that order. Five aircraft are facing north and other five are facing south. One aircraft from one row faces exactly one other aircraft in the other row each of these aircraft has a different seating capacity among 50, 70, 90, 117, 132, 134, 158, 172, 184 and 293.

(i) The Air charters India’s aircraft is neither parked opposite the Aviation India’s aircraft nor has the highest seating capacity. Jet Airways’ aircraft’s seating capacity is more than that of Air Sahara’s aircraft seating capacity.
(ii) The highest and the second highest seating capacity aircraft are parked opposite each other. One of these two aircraft is of a Paramount Airways aircraft.

(iii) The second least seating capacity aircraft is adjacent to the aircraft of Jet Airways and Paramount Airways.
(iv) The Air India’s aircraft is parked at the right end of its row and has the eighth highest seating capacity.
(v) The Aviation India’s aircraft and spice jet’s aircraft have the least difference in the seating capacity.
(vi) The Indigo’s aircraft is parked second from the right in its row and is opposite the aircraft which is adjacent to Spice Jet’s aircraft and the aircraft which has the highest seating capacity.

(vii) The Paramount Airways’ aircraft is to the right of the Kingfisher Airlines’ aircraft and is to the immediate right of Indigo’s aircraft.

(viii) The air craft of seating capacities 158 and 134 are adjacent to each other. Kingfisher Airlines aircraft’s seating capacity is 158. Spice jet’s aircraft’s seating capacity is 132.

(ix) The Air Sahara aircraft is two places away from the least seating capacity aircraft and is adjacent to the highest seating capacity aircraft, which is facing north.

Which of the following aircraft has the fourth least seating capacity?

Options:
A) Indigo
B) Kingfisher Airlines
C) Air Sahara
D) Air India
E) Spice Jet
Solution:

From (iii), Indigo’s aircraft’s seating capacity is 70 and is to the right of Jet Airways’ aircraft.

From (iv), Air India’s aircraft’s seating capacity is 90 and is to the right of the aircraft which has the least seating capacity.

From (v) and (viii), the Aviation India’s aircraft’s and the Spice jet aircraft’s seating capacities are 134 and 132 respectively.

From (i), (vii) and (viii), we get the final arrangement as shown below.

The fourth least seating capacity is 117 and it is Air Sahara.
