Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following questions ⨂, ©, $, @ and # are used with the following meanings

“P ⨂ Q” means “P is neither greater than nor smaller than Q”.

“P © Q” means “P is either greater than or equal to Q”.

“P $ Q” means “P is greater than Q”.

“P @ Q” means “P is either smaller than or equal to Q”.

“P # Q” means “P is smaller than Q”.

Now in each of the following question assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the two conclusions I and II given below them is/are definitely true. Give answer.

Statements: B # D, E @ T, T © P, P $ B

Conclusions:

(I)   P @ D

(II)  P $ D

Options:
A) If only Conclusion I is true.
B) If only Conclusion II is true.
C) If either Conclusion I or Conclusion II is true.
D) If neither Conclusion I nor Conclusion II is true.
E) If both the Conclusion I and II are true.
Solution:
Ans: (c) Given that,

B # D means B < D............ (i)

E @T means E≤ T............ (ii)

T © P means T ≥ P............ (iii)

P $ B means P > B............ (iv)

From (i) and (iv)

P > B < D ⇒ No conclusion

But the exhaustive possibilities are P > D, P = D and P < D.

Hence, either I or II is correct.
