How can we get 24 as passed in neither of subjects

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given, on solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Compare both the quantities and choose the correct option.

Quantity I- 65 % of a class of 120 students passed in mathematics and only 20% not passed in science. The maximum number of students who can neither passed in mathematics nor in science is:

Quantity II- 5.5 % of 450

Options:
A)

Quantity I > Quantity II

B)

Quantity I < Quantity II

C)

Quantity I ≥ Quantity II

D)

Quantity I ≤ Quantity II

E)

Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined

Solution:

From Quantity I- Number of students not pass in maths = 35% of 120

Number of students not pass in science = 20% of 120

Maximum number of student who can neither passed in mathematics nor in science is =

 20 × 120/100

= 24.

From Quantity II- 5.5 % of 450=24.75
