U should be to the right of W and V should be to the right of Y as given in question. So arrangement can be like this also,
O Q N P M or O P N Q M
W U Y V X W U Y V X

Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Ten persons sit in two rows in which five persons – M, N, O, P, and Q – sit in row I, facing south and five persons – U, V, W, X, and Y – sit in row II, facing north but not necessarily in the same order.

The following information is known about them:

N sits opposite the person who sits second to the left of X. M and O sit at the ends. U sits adjacent to neither X nor W. P and Q are not adjacent to each other. M sits neither opposite W nor to the right of P. V sits to the right of Y and neither of them sits at the end. P does not sit opposite Y. U sits to the right of W.

Who among the following sits opposite P?

Options:
A)

W

B)

U

C)

V

D)

X

E)

Either U or V

Solution:

Ans: (c)

It is given that M and O sit at the ends. N sits opposite the person who sits second to the left of X. U sits adjacent to neither X nor W. We get two possible cases as follows:

Since M sits neither opposite W nor to the right of P, case (i) is eliminated. Also given that V sits to the right of Y and neither of them sits at the end P and  Q are not adjacent to each other P does not sit opposite V. Hence P sits to the immediate right of M and V sits opposite Q. Therefore, the final seating arrangement is as follows:

V sits opposite P.
