Question:
Two trains start from Khandala and Mumbai respectively and travel towards each other at a speed of 50 kmph and 40 kmph respectively. By the time they meet, the first train has travelled 100 km more than the second. The distance between Khandala and Mumbai is
Options:
A) 400 km
B) 500 km
C) 900 km
D) 800 km
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (c)

The difference between the speeds of train = 50 km/hr – 40 km/hr = 10 km/hr.

Difference between the distance covered by both the train = 100 km.

∴ Time taken = \(\cfrac{100 \ km}{10 \ km \ hr}\) = 10 hour.

Distance covered by both the train in 10 hour = 10 (50 + 40) = 900 km.
