the sequence in the solution is given as DCBEFA but the answers to the questions are wrongly marked.

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Rearrange the following six sentences A, B, C, D, E and F in a proper sequence to form a meaningful and cohesive paragraph; then answer the questions given below them:

(A) In most cases, men are more goal-oriented than women, and women are more relationship-oriented than men.

(B) Each wants to be treated with love, courtesy, and respect; each wants to be happy; each wants to feel important; and each wants to be listened to and cared for.

(C) They have different needs, different interests, different emotions yet both men and women want many of the same things.

(D) A happy, successful, loving marriage begins with the clear understanding that men and women are different.

(E) So while the differences are there, the similarities are also there.

(F) Enjoy the similarities and work to understand the differences.

Which of the following is the FIFTH sentence after the rearrangement.

Options:
A) C
B) F
C) E
D) D
E) A
Solution:

Ans: (b) The passage deals with ingredients and expectations of marriage. Of all the six sentences, there’s only one sentence that begins with an indefinite article (a), so this certainly is the first sentence of the passage. The first sentence is (D) and this contains the antecedent to the pronoun (‘they”) used in the second sentence (C). So, a logical and grammatical relationship is established between the first two sentences with the use of the pronoun and its antecedent. In the third sentence (B), the author refers to men and women by “each” and says what each of them wants in marriage. The word “each’ refers to the men and women mentioned in the first two sentences. In the fourth sentence (E), the author points out in what respects men and women are identical and different In the fifth sentence (F), the author has used the same words that he has used in the fourth sentence (E). The words “similarities” and “differences” are used in the fourth and the fifth sentences. And the sixth sentence is (A).

The logical sequence of the five sentences is DCBEFA.
