Question:

The perimeter of a square is equal to the perimeter of a rectangle of length 32 cm and breadth 28 cm. Find the circumference of a semicircle whose diameter is equal to the side of the square.

Options:
A)

32.75 cm

B)

84.49 cm

C)

77.13 cm

D)

84.92 cm

E)

72.41 cm

Solution:

Ans: (c)

Let the side of a s square be 'a' cm

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(32+28)

=120 cm

Perimeter of the sqaure = 120 cm

4a = 120

a = 30

Diameter of the semi circle = 15cm

Circumference of the semicircle =R(2 +\(\pi\))

\(\pi\)=3.142

=15(2+3.142)

= 77.13 cm
