i couldnt undrstnd first method

Question:
Deepak and soni working together completed a job in 8 days. If deepak worked twice efficiently as he actually did and soni worked \(\cfrac{1}{3}\) as efficiently as she actually did, the work would have been completed in 6 days. Find the time taken by deepak to complete the job alone:
Options:
A) 8 days
B) \(\cfrac{38}{55}\) days
C) \(\cfrac{15}{2}\) days
D) 13 \(\cfrac{1}{3}\) days
E) 15 days
Solution:

Let, Deepak complete the work in x days & soni complete the work in y days.

now, from question

\(\frac{1}{x}\)+\(\frac{1}{y}\)= \(\frac{1}{8}\)...(1)

from second condition,

\(\frac{2}{x}+\frac{1}{3y}=\frac{1}{6}\)...(2)

multiply (1) by \(\frac{1}{3}\) and subtract (2) from it .

x = 13 \(\frac{1}{3}\) days i.e. deepak alone can complete work in 13 \(\frac{1}{3}\) days.
