How many sons does P have?

I. Only Q, R and S are the children of P.

II. S is the only daughter of T.

III. T is the mother of R, who is the brother of Q.

Options:
A)

Only I and II are sufficient.

B)

Only II and III are sufficient.

C)

Only I and III are sufficient.

D)

All I, II and III together are sufficient.

E)

The question cannot be answered even with I, II and III together.

Solution:

Ans: (a) From I, we can say that P has three children, but we do not have any information about the number of sons.

From II, we can say that S is the only daughter of T, we do not know how many children P has.

∴ II alone is not sufficient.

From III, we do not know any information regarding P. By combining I and II, we can say that P and T are a couple Q and R are the sons of P.

∴ Only I and II are sufficient.
