in "#' operation which is 'greater or equal to' you have taken 'greater than only'. a/c to me both are true. please do correct me if i am wrong ?

Question:

DIRECTIONS:In the following questions, the symbols *, %, $, # and © are used with the following meaning as illustrated below:

‘P $ Q’ means ‘P is smaller than Q’;.

‘P * Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than nor greater than Q’;.

‘P # Q’ means ‘P is either greater than or equal to Q’;.

‘P %Q’ means ‘P is greater than Q’;.

‘P © Q’ means ‘P is either smaller than or equal to Q’.

Now in each of the following questions assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the two conclusions I and II given below then is/are definitely true.

Statement:

H $ J, J * N, N # T

Conclusion:

I. T % H

II. J # T

Options:
A) If only Conclusion I is true
B) If only Conclusion II is true
C) If either Conclusion I or II is true
D) If neither Conclusion I nor II is true
E)

If both Conclusions I and II are true

Solution:

Ans (b) Clearly:

P $ Q ⇒ P < Q

P * Q ⇒ P = Q

P # Q ⇒ P ≥ Q

P % Q ⇒ P > Q

P © Q ⇒ P ≤ Q

Statement:

H < J, J = N, N > T

∴ N = J > H

N = J > T

Conclusion:

I. T > H            (false)

II. J > T            (true)

So, only II is true.
