please i didnt get the question.

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given, on solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Compare both the quantities and choose the correct option.

Quantity I- A train, 110 meter long, is running at a speed of 60 kmph. How many seconds does it take to cross another train, 170 meter long, standing on parallel track?

Quantity II- Two trains 105 m and 90 m long, run at the speeds of 45 km/h and 72 km/h respectively, in opposite directions on parallel tracks. The time which they take to cross each other is?

Options:
A)

Quantity I > Quantity II

B)

Quantity I < Quantity II

C)

Quantity I ≥ Quantity II

D)

Quantity I ≤ Quantity II

E)

Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined

Solution:

From Quantity I-

Speed of train

= \(\cfrac{Sum of lengths of both trains}{Time takes}\)

= \(\cfrac{60 × 5}{18 }\)= \(\cfrac{110 + 170}{t}\) = \(\cfrac{280}{t}\)

⇒ t = \(\cfrac{280 × 18}{60 × 5}\) = 16.8 seconds.

From Quantity II-

Sum of both train lengths =90 + 105 = 195 meter

Relative speed =(45+72)=117 km/h

=117\(\times\cfrac{5}{18}=32.5 \ m/s\)

Time taken in crossing each other =\(\cfrac{195}{32.5}\)= 6 seconds

Solve for individual quantity and then compare them.
