Question:

Find the distance covered.

Quantity I: A person saves 90 minutes when he increases his speed from 20 kmph to 25 kmph to cover a certain distance.

Quantity II: If he covers at a speed of 80 km/h for 2 hours , then the distance covered by him is:

Options:
A) Quantity I > Quantity II
B) Quantity I < Quantity II
C) Quantity I ≥ Quantity II
D) Quantity I ≤ Quantity II
E) Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined
Solution:

Ans: (b)

Quantity I:

Let the distance covered by person = d km

Time to cover d km with 20 kmph = d/20 hr

Time to cover d km with 25 kmph = d/25 hr

The difference between these two times = 90 min = 1.5 hr

d/20 – d/25 = 1.5

d/100 = 1.5

d = 150 km

Quantity II:

Distance covered=2*80=160 km
