In one hour, a boat goes 11 km along the stream and 5 km against it Find the speed of the boat in still water.
Options:

Solution:

Ans (b) 

Let the speed of a boat in still water = x km/h

Speed of stream = y km/h


After solving (1) and (2), we get x = 8 km/h

Speed of the boat in still water = 8 km/h
