in 4th line right is used instead of left so whole question bemused

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Read the following Information carefully and answer the questions given below:

In a car exhibition, seven different companies, viz. Cadilac, Ambassador, Fiat, Maruti, Mercedes, Bedford and Fargo, were displayed in a row, facing east such that,

(1) Cadilac car was to the immediate right of Fargo.

(2) Fargo was fourth to the right of Fiat.

(3) Maruti car was between Ambassador and Bedford.

(4) Fiat, which was third to the left of Ambassador car was at one of the ends.

Which of the following was the correct position of the Mercedes?

Options:
A) Immediate left of Cadilac
B) Immediate left of Bedford
C) Between Bedford and Fargo
D) Fourth to the right of Maruti
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (d) The last sentence gives a definite information about the positions of Fiat and Ambassador. If Fiat is at one of the ends and it is to the left of the Ambassador, it must be at the left end. Hence,

Fiat _____ _____ Ambassador _____ _____ _____

Now, we go to the second sentence since it gives comparative information about Fiat and Fargo. Hence,

Fiat _____ _____ Ambassador Fargo _____ _____

Now, by virtue of the 1st sentence,

Fiat _____ _____ Ambassador Fargo Cadilac _____

Now, the third sentence, Maruti must be to the left of Ambassador since the right place is filled. Hence, Bedford and Maruti would come to the immediate left of Ambassador. The rightmost place would then go to the only car remaining, viz. Mercedes. Hence, the final configuration would look like:

Fiat  Bedfort  Maruti  Ambassadar  Fargo  Cadilac  Mercedes
