In solution , how 46 came ?57_46

Question:
An amount of Rs.56,742 is divided between X and Y in the ratio of 19 : 23. What is the difference between thrice the share of X and twice the share of Y?
Options:
A) Rs.10,241
B) Rs.12,351
C) Rs.14,861
D) Rs.16,281
E) None of these
Solution:

Let share of X be 19a and 23a.

Given;

 19a + 23a =56,742

\(\Rightarrow\)a = 1351

\(\therefore\) 3(19a) - 2(23a) = (57 - 46)a

= 11a =11(1351)= Rs.14,861

ALTERNATE SOLUTION-

19x + 23x =56742

42x = 56742

x = 1351

Thrice the share of x= \(19x\times 3 \)= \(57x\)

Twice the share of y=\(23x\times2 = 46x\)

Difference= 57x - 46y = 11x

11x = 11\(\times\)1351=14861
