Please check it once again, I think the answer will be 12*60*6=4320 litres.

Total work= 24 parts.
pipe A alone= 24/8= 3 parts/hr
pipe A&B(it is the combined effort, technically "B-A" is given)= 24/12 = 2 parts/hr
Given: Both the pipe are 'ON', so we need to consider work done by 'B-A' i.e. equal to 2 parts/hr.
So, tota time taken to fill the tank= 24parts/(2 parts/hr) = 12 hrs.

so Capacity of Tank= 12*60*6= 4320 litres

Question:
A tank has a leak which would empty it in 8 hrs. A tap is turned on which admits 6 liters a minutes into the tank, and it is now emptied in 12 hrs. How many liters does the tank hold?
Options:
A) 8260 liters
B) 8450 liters
C) 8640 liters
D) 8660 liters
E) None of these
Solution:

The filler tap can fill the tank in =  \(\frac{12\times8}{12-8}\) hr.

∴ Capacity of tank = 24 × 60 × 6

= 8640 liters.
