What is the percentage increase in the number of millionaires in 2002 over the previous year? 

Options:
A) 5.1%
B) 5.4%
C) 3.8%
D) 6%
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (c) Number of millionaires in 2002 = 8.4 mn.

Total change in the number of millionaires

205000 + 170000 + 90000 + 10000 – 25000 - 45000 = 315000 =0.31 mn 

Number of millionaires in 2001 = 8.4 - 0.31 = 8.09 mn.

∴ Percentage increase = \(\cfrac{0.31}{8.09}\) ×100 ≅ 3.83%.
